The voice cast for 2020's animated feature "Soul" is made up of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Richard Ayoade, and Phylicia Rashad. It was directed by Pete Docter with a great score by Trent Reznor, Jon Batiste, and Atticus Ross. Disney and Pixar's "Soul" is available to stream on Disney+ right now.
Joe is a middle-school band teacher whose life hasn't quite gone the way he expected. His true passion is jazz -- and he's good. But when he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.
Although "Soul" has a great message to put out for audiences in the end, I'm not entirely convinced the journey to get to it is well mapped out. I don't really see how children will understand what's going on or be able to process the experience. "Soul" seems to be geared towards an older audience, which is great. Shouldn't it somehow appeal to both younger and older viewers, being that it's a Pixar family movie? My daughter seemed to like the characters and the way they looked and things they did, but she couldn't tell you what any of the reasoning behind their actions meant.
