Ron Winter is the lead singer and founder of one of rock's hardest working and popular bands, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. After hearing their latest single, "Brace Yourself," I got excited to reach out and chat with someone from the group about life as they know know it and what they've been up to in these crazy times of isolation and quarantine. What sort of music do you listen to and who's your favorite artist?
I still listen to a lot of 2000's era Emo and post hardcore music like Saosin, Thrice, The Used, Silverstein, GoldFinger, etc. My favorite newer artist is State Champs.
Do you have a favorite superhero? If so, why do you like them?
My favorite superhero has changed over the years… But for a long time now it has been Captain America. I like him because he doesn't always follow orders, he does what he feels inside is right.
If you had to choose one movie or TV series to watch, what would it be?
My wife (DEFOE) and I are loving Westworld - season three has been on point!
Would you consider yourself a religious or spiritual person and how does that affect your career choices?
I am very spiritual, though I don't openly claim a religion. I don't think it's a rule that you have to do that. All of our decisions are faith driven and spiritual tools are a daily practice for me and everything related to this band.
How have you been keeping busy during the Covid-19 crisis?
I am a parent, so keeping busy has not been a challenge for us during quarantine! The challenge has been staying productive to a relative normal schedule and production flow - but we have done our best and are getting goals met.
Tell us a bit about the latest project you're involved in and promoting?
We have a brand new song “Brace Yourself” and its done incredibly well for us – we are on 10 different Spotify curated playlists, including “Rock Hard”; Apple Music’s “Breaking Hard Rock”, and more.
