I found out on Twitter today through a friend of hers that Artist and photographer Astrid Kirchherr died on Wednesday at the age of 81. I can't believe it's been two days and not a single music news outlet has given her the time of day. Ridiculous! She gave The Beatles their first mop tops and inspiration for their mod look. She was also the first photographer to take proper band photos of them in Hamburg. Thankfully, W Magazine gave her a proper tribute and celebrated her work with some awesome photos.
