Are YOU Drinking What Tigerwine is Pouring? Interview with Drummer Shane Riley

Shane Riley is the drummer for rock outfit Tigerwine out of Colorado Springs, CO. Their first album for Tooth and Nail Records, "Nothing is For You," hits stores this coming Friday, May 1st. I thought there was no better time to talk with one of the band members than right now and hear what he has to say about life, pop culture, their new album, and some other fun stuff. You can check out our chat after the jump.

Give me a little background on yourself and how you got involved in Tigerwine?

I used to fill in for a couple other bands and I met the guys on some of those tours. While I was still living in PA, Steve was sending me DWYTO memos. Out of the blue I got a "Hey, join our band" text. Hahaha.

What sort of music do you listen to and who's your favorite artist?

A bunch of things! My all time favorite band is probably Slipknot. Slipknot was the first heavy band for me. Something about the music and the art of what they do hit me. I love the in-your-face energy. It always just felt larger than a "band” and I’ve always loved that.

Do you have a favorite superhero? If so, why do you like them?

I’ve never been much of a superhero guy. I’ll say my parents. I don’t care that it’s cliche. Hahaha.

If you had to choose one movie or TV series to watch, what would it be?

Top Gear, Easily. Cars and mechanical things are a huge part of my family. My Dad used to be a professional drag racer, and is unbelievably intelligent when it comes to cars and how they work. I love learning about cars - what’s coming out - and honestly i just love the art of automotive design. The British Top Gear crew is hilarious - at least Jeremy, James and Richard. The new Top Gear hosts are whack. Haha.

Would you consider yourself a religious or spiritual person and how does that affect your career choices?

Yes to both. I don’t necessarily feel it’s affected my career goals in a literal sense. I just want to make 100% sure that no matter what, I treat people with love and respect and I want to do what I truly love.

Tell us a bit about the latest project you're involved in and promoting?

"Nothing Is For You" is Tigerwine's second full length album. It was recorded with Jeremy Wurst and released through Tooth and Nail Records. I feel like it’s our best yet by 1,000,000%. We worked with people who we believe in and who believe in us. I think we created something really special!
