Promotional images for the final tour of KISS have revealed the band's new costumes for their "End of the Road" tour. The Hottest Band in the World are embarking on what they've said will be a multi-year trip across the globe to say goodbye to their millions of fans. What I believe is the first leg of the tour begins in Vancouver, BC on January 31st. They'll be hitting the Dallas, TX area on February 20th at the American Airlines Center.
Each KISS member's costume still reflects their individual stage persona, but with a bit more glitz and attitude. Tommy Thayer's Spaceman has the familiar "V" neck adornment, but resembles a sort of Mayan broken glass style with an "eye" amulet in the center. One outlet said it looked "Transformers"-like. Gene Simmons looks to be wearing the textured armor of Godzilla if the beast ever went into Medieval war. Paul Stanley's vest and jacket are both covered in sequins, mirroring and highlighting the attitude of the most glamorous member of the band. Eric Singer channels the Catman with his leather vest and armbands that don the logo long-associated with the character.
KISS also premiered a promotional video for the "End of the Road" tour. It features highlights from their past shows and some great shots of the audiences. The ad definitely does a great job building up the viewer's excitement for what will be an unforgettable experience for sure.
"All that we have built and all that we have conquered over the past four decades could never have happened without the millions of people worldwide who've filled clubs, arenas and stadiums over those years. This will be the ultimate celebration for those who've seen us and a last chance for those who haven't. KISS Army, we're saying goodbye on our final tour with our biggest show yet and we'll go out the same way we came in... Unapologetic and Unstoppable," stated KISS on their offical website.
The "End of the Road" tour for KISS is one that will definitely be an emotional experience for me. I haven't missed a show from the band in seventeen years. I grew up with them, airguitaring in my bedroom at age age to "Detroit Rock City" while listening to my "Alive II" album. I FINALLY had the opportunity to meet KISS in full makeup with my oldest son in Oklahoma, although I've had the honor of interviewing and meeting the original members on several different occassions. A world without KISS out and about somewhere will be a strange one.
In a recent interview with KISS for Extra, the band shared why the "End of the Road" tour will be such a special affair and what we can expect. Gene and Paul both get a bit choked up talking about the impact they've had on fans and what their message to all of us really is. It sounds as if concertgoers are in for one last explosive event.
All the initial dates for the "End of the Road" tour can be found here. As usual, there are different ticketing packages which get you varying degrees of access to the shows and band. With this being their final run, I would do my best to get the best experience offered. KISS Meet & Greet Experiences will be available beginning Tuesday, October 30th at 10am local time through kissonline.com. KISS Army fan club presales will begin Wednesday October 31st at 10am local time also through www.kissonline.com.

In 1978, there were two things on the minds of boys ages 5 to 16. OK, maybe three. They were KISS, "Star Wars," and girls. You pick the order they were in for you personally. I was 6, so girls really hadn't figured into the equation yet.
Girls were on boys' minds for the obvious reasons. "Star Wars" was popular because it had just been released the year before and blew everyone away with its groundbreaking, never-before-seen special effects and imagery. After only being around since 1973, KISS was the hottest band in the world because of their shockingly explosive on-stage spectacle and look. They had already released several best-selling studio, live, and solo albums. They had t-shirts, stickers, belt buckles, and everything else you can think of with their logo and likenesses plastered on them. The band even had a comic book that featured the members as superheroes that was published through Marvel Comics.
Their manager, Bill Aucoin, could only see one other area KISS could move into that hadn't been explored yet. The band needed to make a movie. And not just any movie: a movie that put the band into the status of superheroes they were raised to in their comic book.
KISS needed to be seen as superheroes each with individual powers that reflected their different personae. Singer/guitarist Paul Stanley (the Starchild) could control and read minds. Singer/bassist Gene Simmons (the Demon) had super strength and could breathe fire. He also had a reverberating voice that commanded people listen to him and animal-like growls. Singer/lead guitarist Ace Frehley (the Spaceman) could shoot lasers and teleport. Drummer/singer Peter Criss (the Catman) had superhuman agility and leaping powers.
Horror director Gordon Hessler helmed "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park." He had worked on several films with Vincent Price and on "The Alfred Hitchcock Hour." There was the monster movie element Gene Simmons would be happy about. The film was produced by Hanna-Barbera, which probably gave manager Aucoin a feeling of comfort that it would be kid-friendly and made to appeal to that demographic. Hanna-Barbera was known for hit shows like "Scooby-Doo," "The Jetsons," and "Johnny Quest."
"KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park" debuted on October 28, 1978. What better time for a movie about a rock group disguised in makeup with super powers who battled a mysterious villain and his robots to come out than a few days before Halloween? It was featured as one of NBC's "Movies of the Week" and was a hit. Millions of kids were glued to their television sets that night.
With Halloween right around the corner, the 40th anniversary of the release of "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park" is here. I still remember watching it and being thrilled to see my rock superheroes KISS in action. I was the perfect age for what the movie was all about. If it was a marketing ploy to get millions of younger kids hooked on the super-powered look of KISS so they could sell more records, it worked. Forty years later, I'm still a member of the KISS Army!
You can rent or buy the European version of "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park," titled "KISS in the Attack of the Phantoms," on DVD. It's part of the "KISSOLOGY Volume Two: 1978-1991" box set. Will it stand the test of time and be as cool as you remember it being in 1978? No way. Is it still a lot of fun anyway? You bet it is.

Based on author Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy of the same name, THE PASSAGE is an epic, character-driven thriller written by Liz Heldens (“Friday Night Lights”).
Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner and Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Ridley Scott (“The Martian,” “Gladiator”) and writer/director Matt Reeves (“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “Cloverfield”), THE PASSAGE focuses on Project Noah, a secret medical facility where scientists are experimenting with a dangerous virus that could lead to the cure for all disease, but also carries the potential to wipe out the human race.
When a young girl, AMY BELLAFONTE (Saniyya Sidney, “Fences,” “Hidden Figures”) is chosen to be a test subject, Federal Agent BRAD WOLGAST (Mark-Paul Gosselaar, “Pitch”) is the man who is tasked with bringing her to Project Noah.
Ultimately, however, Wolgast becomes her surrogate father, as he tries to protect her at any cost.
Brad and Amy’s journey will force them to confront Project Noah’s lead scientist, MAJOR NICHOLE SYKES (Caroline Chikezie, “The Shannara Chronicles”), and the hardened ex-CIA operative in charge of operations, CLARK RICHARDS (Vincent Piazza, “Boardwalk Empire,” “Rescue Me”), whom Brad trained.
It likewise brings them face-to-face with a dangerous new race of beings confined within the walls of Project Noah, including former scientist TIM FANNING (Jamie McShane, “Bosch,” “Bloodline,” “Sons of Anarchy”) and death-row inmate SHAUNA BABCOCK (Brianne Howey, “The Exorcist”).
In seeking out any allies he can find, Brad also turns to his former wife, DR. LILA KYLE (Emmanuelle Chriqui, “Entourage,” “Murder in the First”), for help.
But as Project Noah’s scientists hone in on a cure that could save humanity, these new beings begin to test their own powers, inching one step closer to an escape that could lead to an unimaginable apocalypse.
