The Smart Sharks Return in Deep Blue Sea 2 Trailer

It's been almost 20 years since Thomas Jane, LL Cool J, and Samuel Jackson went up against a school of intelligent sharks. Leave it to SyFy to resurrect the beasts for an unnecessary straight-to-DVD sequel. Still, it does look mildly entertaining.

In Deep Blue Sea 2, shark conservationist Dr. Misty Calhoun (Danielle Savre) is invited to consult on a new, top secret project run by pharmaceutical billionaire Carl Durant (Michael Beach). When science meddles with the time-tested process of nature and nurture, the outcome can be deadly.

Check out the trailer below.

DC Comics Brings No Justice to the Justice League in May

ACCLAIMED WRITERS SCOTT SNYDER, JAMES TYNION IV AND JOSHUA WILLIAMSON JOIN FORCES THIS MAY FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE

Artist Francis Manapul Delivers Epic Action Featuring The World’s Greatest Super-Heroes

Weekly Four-Issue Miniseries Follows Events from the Cataclysmic Conclusion of DARK NIGHTS: METAL

At the conclusion of writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo’s DARK NIGHTS: METAL (issue #6 on sale March 14), the bestselling BATMAN talent team will shake the DC Universe to its deepest foundations and do something that even the most passionate fans will characterize as unimaginable and utterly audacious.

This event sets the stage for even more bold and daring storytelling, as Snyder, along with co-writers James Tynion IV (DETECTIVE COMICS) and Joshua Williamson (THE FLASH, Vertigo’s DEATHBED) plus all-star artist Francis Manapul (TRINITY) take readers on an adventure that will break the very boundaries of the DC Universe in JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE, a four-issue weekly miniseries, beginning May 9.

“We thought we knew the entire map of the DC cosmos,” says Snyder. “We thought we had explored all there was to explore. But now we know that all this time the Multiverse was nothing but a fishbowl, and now we’ve been dumped into the ocean, unleashing terrifying new threats, and wondrous new possibilities. METAL opened up channels of storytelling that Francis, James, Joshua and I are excited to explore in a big way. When we’re finished, fans will never look at the Justice League in the same way again.”

In this four-issue miniseries, the super-villain Brainiac arrives on Earth with a dire warning for the Justice League: there’s a threat coming to destroy Earth, one that the heroes are ill-equipped to handle. Brainiac thinks he holds the key to victory, but it means combining members of the League with some of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe and sending them into battle against this extinction-level menace. The stakes are at their absolute highest; if one of these teams fail. It’s game over.

JUSTICE LEAGUE: NO JUSTICE promises to deliver over-the-top blockbuster action, courtesy of artist Francis Manapul.

“I’m laying out the biggest action of my life,” says Manapul. “The Justice League realizes that they need to expand their reach to become something bigger than they have ever been before. If you thought my work for JUSTICE LEAGUE: DARKSEID WAR was huge, I’m taking the League to the edge of the cosmos with NO JUSTICE. Anyone who has asked for Harley Quinn, Martian Manhunter, Starfire, Zatanna, the Atom, Raven, or Doctor Fate to be in their personal Justice League will stand up and cheer.”

This can’t-miss miniseries sets the stage for a “family” of Justice League titles, beginning in June, headlined by Snyder on JUSTICE LEAGUE with additional titles written by James Tynion IV, Joshua Williamson and more in the coming months.

Let's Celebrate Your Happy Death Day [DVD Review]

Imagine, if you can, a world where Halloween and Groundhog Day somehow blended together and became a film. Now take into consideration that the mutation actually worked and you have Happy Death Day. If you're a gorehound looking for your next fix of torture porn, you're out of luck here.

The kills really aren't the focus in Happy Death Day. We're not getting new and exciting ways to off teenagers. It's a good old 1990s slasher who-dun-it with a dark sense of humor and a lesson to be learned.

Tree Gelbman is a blissfully self-centered collegian who wakes up on her birthday in the bed of a student named Carter. As the morning goes on, Tree gets the eerie feeling that she's experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she once again magically wakes up in Carter's dorm room unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her in Happy Death Day.

Happy Death Day is rated PG-13 for violence / terror, crude sexual content, language, some drug material and partial nudity.

Christopher Landon directed Happy Death Day from a screenplay by Scott Lobdell. It stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, and Ruby Modine. The running time is 96 minutes.

Happy Death Day is available now on Blu-rayDVD, and Digital HD.

Rating: Good

Want to See Who's in Incredibles 2?

Check out the “Incredibles 2” voice cast side-by-side with images of their characters and see just-released character descriptions below!

HELEN PARR (voice of Holly Hunter), known in the Superworld as Elastigirl, hung up her Supersuit to raise the family with husband Bob, leaving their crime-fighting days behind them. But when she’s tapped to lead a campaign to bring the Supers back into the spotlight, she finds she can still bend, stretch and twist herself into any shape needed to solve the trickiest of mysteries. In short, she’s still got it. That’s good news, too, because a new villain is emerging—unlike any they’ve ever seen before.

BOB PARR (voice of Craig T. Nelson) cherishes his days as Mr. Incredible—a popular Super with mega-strength and the power to singlehandedly take out the bad guys. Ever since Supers were outlawed, Bob’s been mostly lying low, raising the family alongside his wife Helen. But when she’s called on to stretch her Super skills and hopefully change the public perception of Supers for the better, Bob must manage the household on his own, which calls for a completely different set of super powers.

VIOLET PARR (voice of Sarah Vowell), the firstborn of the Parr clan, is an introverted and intelligent 14-year-old teen that doesn’t quite fit in with the normal crowd. Socially awkward, outspoken and sarcastic, Violet plays her teenager role to perfection—all while secretly mastering her superpowers of invisibility and creating force fields. A Super at heart, Violet can’t help her urge to fight crime alongside her family.

DASHIELL PARR (voice of Huckleberry “Huck” Milner) is a 10-year-old boy—restless, relentless, curious—though his remarkable power of Super speed certainly sets him apart. Dash sports a hearty sense of adventure and a boundless supply of energy. He’d love nothing more than to show off his special skills and fight a few bad guys along the way—and doesn’t understand why he has to keep his powers a secret.

JACK-JACK PARR, the baby of the family, likes to sit back with a bottle and a good story. Well-versed in gibberish with a penchant for throwing food, Jack-Jack may seem like a typical toddler, but he just might turn out to be the most powerful Parr in the household—if only his family had a clue of what this kid can really do.

LUCIUS BEST (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) is not only Bob’s best friend, he’s a fellow-former Super who’s so chill, he can make ice with the point of a finger. But even when he’s not fighting crime as Frozone, Lucius is all about style. He has a quick wit and a cool, can-do attitude—and he wouldn’t think twice about breaking out his Supersuit if it could help bring Supers out of hiding.

EDNA “E” MODE (voice of Brad Bird) possesses impeccable design sense, a keen understanding of cutting-edge technology and an unmatched skillset. A creative visionary, she longs for the return of Supers so she can once again create functional yet edgy Supersuits. The petite and powerful fashionista treats her clients like family, dahling, but sticks firmly to her long-held assertion: No capes!

WINSTON DEAVOR (voice of Bob Odenkirk) leads a world-class telecommunications company alongside his genius sister, Evelyn. Ultra-wealthy, savvy and suave, Winston goes big in everything he does—including his infatuation with Supers. He has been a supporter of Supers returning—all he needs is a hero (or three) to help him change public perception and bring them back into the sunlight.

EVELYN DEAVOR (voice of Catherine Keener), the brilliant brainchild behind her brother Winston’s telecommunications company, knows her way around tech. She loves tinkering with tech, and has never met a problem she can’t solve.

RICK DICKER (voice of Jonathan Banks) heads up the official Super Relocation Program, helping the Parr family keep their Super identities secret—that’s no easy feat with this family. But Rick takes his job very seriously—at least until his division is shuttered, leaving the Parrs all on their own.

VOYD (voice of Sophia Bush) is a young, overeager “wannabe” Super and a mega-fan of Elastigirl. Her superpower is the ability to divert and manipulate objects around her by creating voids that allow the objects to appear and disappear, and shift in space.

The Supers find an advocate in a dignified foreign AMBASSADOR (voice of Isabella Rossellini) who is committed to the support and legalization of Superheroes.

Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible. Action Comics #1000 Will Include Lost Siegel and Shuster Superman Story

Lost Siegel and Shuster Superman Story to Be Published In New Action Comics #1000: 80 Years of Superman Hardcover Book

Special Collection of Superman Stories and Essays is Part of DC’s Star-Studded ACTION COMICS #1000 Celebration

Edited by Paul Levitz with a New Jim Lee Cover and an All-Star Talent Line-up Including Laura Siegel Larson, Jules Feiffer, Gene Luen Yang, Al Plastino, Otto Binder, Curt Swan, Marv Wolfman, John Byrne, Dick Giordano, Grant Morrison, Len Wein, Carmine Infantino and More!

A new hardcover book, ACTION COMICS #1000: 80 YEARS OF SUPERMAN, is being published by DC Entertainment as part of its celebration of the one-thousandth issue of ACTION COMICS—the longest continually published comic book of its kind in history, the series that introduced Superman to the world and the title that launched the superhero genre. The collection features a series of essays and iconic Superman stories edited by former DC Publisher Paul Levitz. Most notably, the book includes a never before published 12-page story from original Superman writer Jerry Siegel with art by the Joe Shuster Studio titled “Too Many Heroes.”

“The found Siegel and Shuster story is a true treasure with a fascinating backstory,” stated Levitz. “Back when DC did regular tours of the New York office, it was common for fans to get original art that would have been otherwise disposed of as a tour souvenir. As a young fan on a tour Marv Wolfman found this Superman story and kept it all these years. It’s incredible to think that Marv not only rescued this unpublished story, he then went on to become one of DC’s most prolific writers, and shared the story with DC to publish as part of this special new collection.”

Levitz continued, “It’s an honor to edit this collection of stories and essays that chronicle key moments and contributors to Superman’s epic 80 year run as one of the most iconic characters in all of pop culture. I’m particularly happy that Laura Siegel Larson’s tribute to her father and his legacy are part of the book.”

The 384-page hardcover book will cost $29.99 and hit store shelves on April 19. Highlights and key Superman stories in this collection include:

- A new cover by legendary artist and DC Publisher Jim Lee
- Text pieces including: an editor’s note by Paul Levitz, a tribute to ACTION COMICS by Laura Siegel Larson (daughter of Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel), an introduction by Jules Feiffer, plus essays by Tom DeHaven (“It’s Superman!”), David Hajdu (“The Ten-Cent Plague”), Larry Tye (“Superman: The High-Flying History of America’s Most Enduring Hero”) and Gene Luen Yang (SUPERMAN, NEW SUPER-MAN and the National Book Award finalist “American Born Chinese”)

Blu-ray Review: Batman: Gotham by Gaslight

If you're expecting a faithful adaptation of the comic Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, brace yourselves. You're going to be either disappointed or pleasantly surprised by what DC has delivered to us in their latest animated feature. While the elements of the Elseworlds tale are all intact, the story has changed drastically.

Gotham City, at the turn of the century, is experiencing a golden era of discovery and industry as showcased by affluent businessman Bruce Wayne's World Fair. Down in the darkest alleys, there is a killer on the loose. Preying on the city's women, this killer is as precise as he is cruel. As Police Commissioner James Gordon tries to calm the fears of Gotham's citizens over the butcher named Jack the Ripper, the masked vigilante Batman does some detective work of his own, with the help of the sultry and surefooted Selina Kyle. Witness a world in flames as the killer's controlled savagery meets the calculated stealth of the Dark Knight in Batman: Gotham by Gaslight!

I enjoyed the new take, as I had read Barman: Gotham by Gaslight many years ago . The watching experience might have been a bit tedious if I knew the exact direction the movie would take. That being said, I was pleased how everything panned out in the end.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight puts together two of my favorite literary factual and fictional "characters." I've always been interested in the true stories of Jack the Ripper and the exciting adventures of the Dark Knight detective. Seeing the two blended together onscreen is an experience I thought I could only dream of.

The Blu-ray version of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight includes the featurette Caped Fear: The First Elseworld, Audio Commentary, a sneak peek at the next DC Universe Movie - Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay, and 2 bonus cartoons from the DC Vault.

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight is directed by Sam Liu. It stars the voice talents of Tara Strong, Jennifer Carpenter, Bruce Timm, John DiMaggio, Anthony Head, Scott Patterson, Bruce Greenwood, and William Salyers. The movie is rated R for some violence.

Rating: Three and a Half Bat-Signals
