Scott Snyder revealed in a recent interview that he has big plans for both Hawkman and Captain Marvel. Wait, Captain Marvel? Doesn't he mean Shazam?
"...We have tremendous enthusiasm and interest for that character, and I think you'll start to see clues of a lot of stuff coming with him in different ways in the future in Metal. I can say that there are definitely big plans at DC for Shazam and for Captain Marvel and the whole Marvel family."
Could we be seeing a possible return to refering to Shazam by the name Captain Marvel in the near future?
As far as Hawkman is concerned, Snyder had this to say:
"It's not too much of a mystery, because there's an issue by Jeff Lemire and Bryan Hitch called Hawkman Found in the middle of the story, so he will likely be reappearing. We have big plans for him... in terms of the DNA of what we're doing for that character and the stories that are going to spin out of it for him, I couldn't be more excited in the directions that the people who are going to work on him are taking. They're better than anything that I could have done. It's really impressive."

A new trailer for Stephen King's "It" has hit the internet and we've got it for you to see after the jump. I still love the original miniseries, but am more than open to a new interpretation of King's novel. I look at this new "It" as another adaptation of the book and not as a remake of the 1990 miniseries. There's plenty of room for audiences to love both.

Frankie's Comics and a group known as the Variant Collective (consisting of the Comic Mint, Sad Lemon, 7ate9, Amorphous Ink, and Golden Apple) are donating an entire print run of 3,000 store-specific comic variants for issue #4 of Marvel's Defenders to the U.S. Military. Kevin Fields of Frankie's Comics stated, "We just wanted to do something cool for our soldiers and the collecting community. I wish we could have announced this on July 4th, as that was the impetus for the idea, but it took longer than we thought to find a charity that would actually put the books in the hands of the troops."
Operation Gratitude was started in 2003. They send out over 250,000 care packages every year to active military personnel and veterans. They also serve first responders. Every package comes with with food, hygiene products, hand-made items, and personal letters of support. Comic books can now be added to that list!

In a world where every studio is building up their very own "Universe" of sorts, one that actually has me a bit excited is what Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures is doing with their King Kong and Godzilla franchises. I was rather underwhelmed by Gareth Edwards' "Godzilla," but pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed "Kong: Skull Island." One of the things I loved about "Kong: Skull Island" was the after-credits scene when we're given little sneak peeks of what lies ahead for the surviving characters if they join forces with monster-hunting organization Monarch. You can check out a new image released teasing another look at what we'll see of Mothra in the upcoming "Godzilla 2" on March 22nd, 2019.

Frank Miller announced at Conic-Con that he will be writing Superman: Year One for DC Comics. He will be taking the same approach he did with "Batman: Year One."I really don't know what to think of this announcement. I love "The Dark Knight Returns" and "Batman: Year One." I even enjoyed "The Dark Knight Strikes Again." However, "DKIII: The Master Race" was a pretty big disappointment for me. ALso, I don't know why he would ant to even re-tool the Man of Steel's origin story. It's pretty obvious from the way he portrays the character in his past books he doesn't care for him much. Warner Bros. treated Comic-Con audiences in Hall H to a new sneak peek for "Justice League." Joss Whedon is "re-directing" the movie for Zack Snyder. Here's hoping Whedon does enough re-shoots to steer DC's Murderverse into less murky waters. You can also check out a new poster for the movie based on the art of Alex Ross. I think the side-by-side comparison provided by Moviepilot's Jashan Boparai speaks for itself.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash -— it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
"Justice League" will arrive in theaters this fall on November 17.

"While a sequel to 2015’s superhero flop 'Fantastic Four' seems like a long shot, it looks like actor Michael B. Jordan ('Creed') didn’t need to suit up as the hot-headed Johnny Storm again to be exposed to more fire. He’s co-starring in a new 'Fahrenheit 451' movie alongside Michael Shannon ('Man of Steel'), and Jordan has revealed the first photo from the movie on Instagram." - via /Film

"'The Dark Tower' opens in a little over two weeks and the lack of marketing and that 95-minute runtime rightfully have fans of Stephen King’s beloved horror / fantasy series concerned. After years of development, could this long-waited adaptation arrive with a whimper instead of a bang? It’s a question worth asking (and worrying about). But for now, this new featurette practically doubles as a new trailer, offering all kinds of new footage while various talking heads discuss the finer points of King’s 'magnum opus.'" via /Film

"Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" is the sci-fi epic of the year up to now. Combining visuals unrivaled and powerhouse performances from Cara Delevingne and Dane Dehaan, this film creates an entirely new look at the age of expansion to other galaxies to seek out new life. The movie shows us how humans evolved to the point of space exploration and first contact with other life. It follows Valerian and his partner, Laureline, as they hunt down answers for a rising threat at the center of Alpha, the city of a Thousand Planets.
In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) work together to maintain order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the minister of defense, the duo embarks on a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where diverse species gather to share knowledge and culture. When a dark force threatens the peaceful city, Valerian and Laureline must race against time to identify the menace that also jeopardizes the future of the universe in "Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets."
The technical aspects of "Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" are gorgeous. They range from the CGI of aliens to an entire planet. The visuals are absolutely stunning and manage to use the 3D aspect of film in such a way that you don't feel like your money is wasted.
"Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets'" storyline is solid rather throughout the whole movie. There's a little bit of dragging in the middle due to some character building and no suspense or action. That's not an issue for me, but it may be an issue for other viewers.
The idealistic properties of the universe experienced in "Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" are also phenomenal. They dealing with alternate dimensions, religion, science, and different concepts of life. It also touches on how tech will evolve into the future.
"Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" is rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and action, suggestive material and brief language. There are some rather scantily clad alien women that might be much for younger viewers.
"Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets" is directed by Luc Besson. It comes out on July 21st, 2017. The movie stars Dane DeHaan, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Clive Owen, and Ethan Hawke. The running time is 137 minutes.
