Comic Book Review: Jonah Hex / Yosemite Sam Special #1
When miner Yosemite Sam strikes it rich, word gets out as everyone comes gunning for his wealth! To protect himself and his new riches, he hires bounty hunter Jonah Hex. However, the man protecting him may be his worst nightmare in Jonah Hex / Yosemite Special #1!
Jonah Hex / Yosemite Sam Special #1 is available now in print and digital editions.
Jonah Hex / Yosemite Sam Special #1 is rated T for Teen. It contains violence and gore, adult situations, and frightening and intense scenes. There are a couple of panels that show a man getting his head blown off. Yosemite Sam and Jonah Hex visit a saloon / brothel for a little company, too.
Jimmy Palmiotti wrote the main story for the Jonah Hex / Yosemite Sam Special #1 and Mark Texeira provided the artwork. Bill Matheny wrote the backup tale and David Alvarez illustrated. It was released on June 28th through DC Comics. The book is 48 pages long.
I'm finally starting to understand the format of these entertaining little mashups of Looney Tunes cartoon characters and DC's biggest comic icons. They give readers a story for teens and adults and one catered to a younger audience all within the pages of one book. Both tales prove to be a great formula when it comes to the Jonah Hex / Yosemite Sam Special #1. The art styles are a major part of what separates and sets the tones for these two adventures. The handiwork for the main tale is much more graphic and weighty. The backup reflects its cartoon foundations and has a lighter and more friendly air to it.

“Baby Driver” sports a killer soundtrack and unleashes stellar performances from Ansel Elgort, Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm, Eiza Gonzalez, Jamie Foxx, and Jon Bernthal. It will easily become one of the best movies of 2017.
The movie takes place in Atlanta and follows the adventures and misadventures of Baby (Elgort), a getaway driver who suffers from Tinnitus due to a childhood accident, as he clears his debt with Doc (Spacey) and tries to escape his life of crime. Due to circumstances out of his control, he is coerced back into one last job. He is forced into helping Buddy (Hamm), his sociopathic wife Darling (Gonzalez), and Bats (Foxx) - a man with nothing to lose and a death wish.
We see Baby and Debora (James) grow in a friendship that blossoms into a romance as the movie progresses. When she gets caught in the mix, we see a whole new side of Baby. He will go to any lengths to protect the woman he loves.
The soundtrack to “Baby Driver” lines up with the film in an almost musical way, but without the singing or breaking into dance. It fits every scene perfectly and will definitely be bringing back some older music from bands thought long gone.
"Baby Driver" is rated R for violence and gore, profanity, and frightening and intense scenes. There's no nudity, but a sexual innuendo is used.
Overall, "Baby Driver" is a solid 9.5 / 10 with nearly no flaws or potholes that I caught. The characters are fleshed out fantastically and the plot is extremely well executed. It is a must see for this summer in my book.
"Baby Driver" came out on June 28th, 2017. It was directed by Edgar Wright. The running time is 113 minutes.

"Fresh off the critical acclaim for his stunning 'War for the Planet of the Apes,' director Matt Reeves is set on bringing a visionary take to his next franchise project, 'The Batman.' Contrary to the grim, action-driven versions of Batman we’ve seen lately, Reeves says he wants to bring out the 'noir' side in the World’s Greatest Detective. About time." - via /Film

I grow to love the monthly KISS comic more and more with every issue. You think it can't get any cooler and zanier, and then writer Amy Chu pulls another trick out of her sleeve for issue #9. I'm quickly beginning to think I'm reading the comic book equivalent of one of those awesome sci-fi rock operas from the 1970s. Obviously, the storyline and quality is better, though. However, KISS #9 is just as off the wall.
It's Kaiju vs. the KISS Army in a metal death match orchestrated by the mysterious ship the Obayashi. Will the last of humankind destroy themselves? Can the language of music save everyone in KISS #9?
KISS #9 is rated "T+" for Teen Plus. I really don't understand the rating for the book. I've seen harsher content in the "T" rated books from DC Comics. The issue contains violence and frightening and intense sequences. A few of the characters embrace and kiss, but there's nothing besides that.
Amy Chu wrote KISS #9. Kewber Baal provided art for the issue. It was released on June 28th through Dynamite Comics. The book is 32 pages long.

"Mister Miracle writer Tom King has tweeted an early look at two pages by Mitch Gerads, presumably from August 9's Mister Miracle #1. Along with the pages, King shared a quote from Marcus Aurelius, which reads 'The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.'" - via Newsarama

"Another 'Conjuring' is on its way, and David Leslie Johnson ('Dungeons and Dragons,' 'The Conjuring 2') has been tapped by New Line Cinema to write a third installment of the horror franchise. 'The Conjuring 3' is expected to bring writer-producer-director James Wan back into the fold but likely not in the same capacity. This time around, expect Wan to serve as producer through his Atomic Monster production company with Peter Safran, who is also in the wings to return as producer. Wan, however, is unlikely to direct the third installment." - via Deadline
