“All Star Western Volume 3: The Black Diamond Probability” Has Jonah Hex Battling a Wanna-Be Mr. Hyde

I'm not going to lie. I originally picked up the relaunched adventures of Jonah Hex because of the cover of the first issue. The reluctant hero sitting on a horse next to a Gotham city limit sign reeled me in. Anything that takes place in the Dark Knight's gloomy hometown immediately is put on my must-read list. Hex is still keeping me interested in "All Star Western Volume 3: The Black Diamond Probability." Read more

Scream Factory Brings "Witchboard" into Your Home on Blu-ray

Scream Factory continues its celebration of Kevin Tenney genre films with their Blu-ray release of "Witchboard." I still remember my friends talking about this surprisingly good flick when it first came out in 1986. 28 years later, it still both holds up well and reminds viewers of the cheese served up in the greatest decade of horror. "Night of the Demons" Brings the Party Home on Blu-ray

Scream Factory is extremely efficient at their job of releasing and cleaning up many of the lost genre gems of the 1980s and 1990s. I'm beginning to have a hard time introducing each new Blu-ray or DVD versions of the movies they save from obscurity. It's now time for "Night of the Demons" to make its high definition debut. “World’s Finest Volume 2: Hunt and Be Hunted” Continues the Adventures of Huntress and Power Girl

As a fan of Batman, I'll pick up anything that has to do with the Dark Knight's extended family. Therefore, I've been keeping up with the adventures of Huntress and Power Girl as they make their way through the crime-ridden streets of our universe and try to find a way back to Earth 2. I was excited to dive into "World's Finest Volume 2: Hunt and Be Hunted," but walked away a bit disappointed. Read more

Marvel's CG Animated “Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United” Disappointing

Not wanting anyone to forget about their characters in between films, Marvel unleashes the CG-animated feature "Iron Man and Hulk: Heroes United." Apparently, these two super heroes don't need the rest of the Avengers to get the job done. The great green behemoth and heavy metal warrior can take on super-villains just fine as a dysfunctional duo. Read more

Detective Comics #27 Celebrates 75 Years of Batman in Style

What better to way to open up the 75th anniversary year for Batman than to start it off with a celebration of the 27th issue of Detective Comics through 27 tales taking up 96 pages? I'm sure many readers might know that the Dark Knight made his debut in the pages of Detective Comics in 1939. However, it never hurts to educate newer enthusiasts and that's exactly what the writers and artists do in this issue. Read more

"Carrie" (2013) DVD Review

Unlike many people, I have no problems with remakes of classic films. Who's to say that someone else's take on a character or universe wouldn't offer something new to the cinematic world? I actually enjoyed the "A Nightmare on Elm Street," "Friday the 13th," and "Fright Night" reboots. The upcoming "Robocop" looks to be entertaining as well. Read more

“Injustice: Gods Among Us Volume 1” Takes Readers Beyond the Game

DC Comics takes the story from one of its most popular video games and puts it on the printed page with the graphic novel collection "Injustice: Gods Among Us Volume 1." I don't play games, so I had no idea what to expect from this prequel. What we get is an elaborate "Elseworlds"-type tale that shows us an alternate take on the characters we know and love. You're Next DVD

I've been excited to see "You're Next" ever since reading about it what seems like over a year ago. Sometimes it takes indie genre films a while to find the right distributor and studio that will give it a chance. "Everybody Loves Mandy Lane" is an extreme example of the long time it can take for a movie to make it from festival to Blu-ray and DVD release. I can honestly say that the wait for this home invasion/slasher/horror mutation was worth the wait. Read more

Walt Disney Home Entertainment gives another one of their classic films the Blu-ray upgrade it so rightfully deserves with their "Mary Poppins" 50th Anniversary Edition.
