One thing DC Comics won't give up on is its diversity. It continues on with All-Star Western and its military-themed titles even when they might not be as popular as Batman, Superman, and Justice League. Instead of completely doing away with any sort of war series after the cancellations of the New 52's Men of War and Blackhawks books, they've replaced them with G.I. Combat.

Blu-ray Review: "Mother's Day"
I don't think anyone ever expects a horror movie remake to be good. Unlike most genre fans, I've liked most of the reboots Hollywood pushes out including "My Bloody Valentine," "Friday the 13th," and even "A Nightmare on Elm Street." When Darren Lynn Bousman's retooling of "Mother's Day" landed on my front porch, I was interested in seeing what the man behind the first three "Saw" sequels and "Repo! The Genetic Opera" did to the 1980 original.

World's Finest Issue #1 Comic Book Review
One thing you can always count on with DC is their knack for keeping readers excited and finding new ways to expand their universe. They continue this with the "New 52 Second Wave" of titles that hit newsstands recently. The first series to launch is Earth 2 and takes place in that alternate universe. World's Finest Issue #1 takes the Robin and Supergirl from Earth 2 and brings them to our world as Huntress and Power Girl.

DVD Review: Marvel Anime's 'X-Men: Animated Series'
I am not a big fan of the X-Men to start off. I mildly enjoy Bryan Singer's lumbering first two films and completely write off Brett Ratner's needless "X-Men: The Last Stand." My favorite movies featuring the mutants are "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "X-Men: First Class." Needless to say, I did not have high expectations going into Marvel Anime's "X-Men: Animated Series."

'Batman Volume 1: The Court of Owls' Graphic Novel Review
When DC Comics announced they were re-booting all their titles, they were met with skepticism from millions of superhero fans. How could they seemingly brush aside 70 to 80 years of history and just restart everything from issue #1? It was easy for them. They just moved forward with writers and artists and did it. It worked as far as I'm concerned.

'Justice League Volume 1: Origin' Graphic Novel Review
DC Comics takes readers back to the beginning and shows how the greatest superhero team in the universe came together with "Justice League Volume 1: Origin." When the publishing giant launched their New 52 reboot, the Justice League monthly series kicked it all off. What better way to do it than to show how Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg join forces to protect the universe from destruction.

'Animal Man Volume 1: The Hunt' Graphic Novel Review
When DC sent me the first issue of their Animal Man title, I smirked. I found it hard to take a character with such a name seriously. I can't stress how wrong I was. After taking in the debut, I immediately hoped the graphic novel collection would come out quickly. After all, one can only keep up with so many monthly comic books. I was excited to receive the first collection of this great series entitled "Animal Man Volume 1: The Hunt."

Stan Lee Presents Dallas Comic-Con This Weekend
Comic book legend Stan Lee isn't only attending this year's Dallas Comic-Con, he's presenting it! The man who helped create many of the biggest Marvel superheroes makes his only Texas appearance of 2012 this coming weekend. He'll be greeting fans, signing autographs, and taking photos Friday night and Saturday of the three day event. Lee is only the icing on the cake for comic book and movie enthusiasts.
The event also boasts dozens of great media guests from the world of sci-fi and genre films and television. "Star Trek: The Next Generation's" Patrick Stewart (Captain Jean-Luc Picard) is the guest of honor for a lineup that will have fanboys and girls drooling all over themselves. Summer Glau ("Firefly"), James Marsters ("Buffy, the Vampire Slayer"), Laura Vandervoort ("Smallville"), John De Lancie ("Star Trek: The Next Generation"), Dave Prowse (Darth Vader in the original "Star Wars" trilogy), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca in the "Star Wars" saga), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett in the original "Star Wars" trilogy), and Tim Taylor ("The Hunger Games") are also attending.
Comic book legends appearing include George Perez (Superman), Len Wein (Before Watchmen), Arthur Suydam (Marvel Zombies), Jimmy Palmiotti (All-Star Western), Cully Hamner (RED), Greg Horn (She-Hulk), Sean McKeever (Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane), Mitch Breitweiser (Captain America), Elizabeth Breitweiser (Avengers vs. Atlas), and many more.
This year's event could be dubbed "Bat-Con" with all the guests attending who celebrate the world of the Dark Knight Detective. The Dynamic Duo of Adam West and Burt Ward from TV's "Batman" crown a gathering of the legendary celebrities who brought the superhero to life for fans over the years. Kevin Conroy voices Batman in almost every TV series, movie, and video game DC's superhero appears in since the early 1990s. He'll be signing autographs for free. Batman comic book artists appearing include Eisner Hall of Fame legend Neal Adams, Norm Breyfogle (Detective Comics), Brian Stelfreeze (Batman: Shadow of the Bat), Guo Jingxiong (Justice League of America), Steve Erwin ("Batman Returns"), and Eddie Medina (Batman freelance artist).
If you're a toy or comic book collector you'll find what you're looking for in the massive Vendor Room. Thousands of t-shirts, action figures, movies, books, hard-to-find items, and other collectibles can be located at Dallas Comic-Con. Just make sure you come with plenty of money to spend.
This is one event you won't want to miss if you're a comic book or movie fanatic. Dallas Comic-Con takes place Friday, May 18 from 4:30pm to 7:00pm; Saturday, May 19 from 11:00am to 7:00pm; and Sunday, May 20 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Interview: Director Darren Lynn Bousman Celebrates 'Mother's Day'
Darren Lynn Bousman is a well-known name in the world of independent horror films. His big break in the industry came when he was awarded the director's chair of "Saw II." Bousman's sequel was so well-received, he was asked to return and head up "Saw III " and "Saw IV." He then veered off into different territiories with the cult classic "Repo! the Genetic Opera." After being held up for three years in distribution limbo, his remake of Troma's "Mother's Day" finally hit Blu-ray and DVD. I had the opportunity to talk to Bousman about the movie while he was out on tour with his latest film "The Devil's Carnival."

'Wonder Woman Volume 1: Blood' Graphic Novel Review
I watched Wonder Woman in the 1970s when Lynda Carter thrilled men young and old in the role. The character holds her own in all the "Justice League" animated movies and television shows. I enjoyed what I read when the first issue of her New 52 title came out. Unfortunately, there's just not enough time in the day to keep up with everything. "Wonder Woman Volume 1: Blood" made me wish I could add a few extra hours to my day for reading.

'Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery the Deluxe Edition' Graphic Novel Review
There's no denying the stories writer Grant Morrison comes up with for his Batman books are both brilliant and complex. He's written some great supernatural-tinged story arcs for the Dark Knight I've thoroughly enjoyed. That being said, I found "Flex Mentallo: Man of Muscle Mystery The Deluxe Edition " a clutter of ideas attempting a sort of "Inception"-like mind-trip that proves to do nothing but cause confusion.

Movie Review: 'Dark Shadows'
Tim Burton isn't too lucky when it comes to remakes for Hollywood. His "Alice in Wonderland" remake / sequel met with mixed reviews. Many would say his "Planet of the Apes" was to blame for killing off the franchise for over 10 years after waiting so long for another movie. "Sleepy Hollow" was met with decent reviews, but still didn't thrill critics the way his other films have. However, it's not fair to bring up the bad without talking about the good. Burton hit the mark with remakes or new versions of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Now he's taken on the cult classic 1960's supernatural soap opera "Dark Shadows."

Movie Review: 'The Avengers'
Many times a movie is so anticipated with so much buzz surrounding it audiences can't help but be disappointed on some level. Joss Whedon's " Marvel's The Avengers " had a lot to prove as it hit theaters at midnight on May 4. When building up a movie through five separate ones over a span of five years, you better be able to deliver. I'm happy to say cast and crew delivered big time.
